WooCommerce extends WordPress with commerce functionality; its core repository identifies a GPL-3.0 license. WooCommerce source and license.
We include it because many builders will encounter it. EKG’s current house commerce standard chooses FluentCart, so this profile is research rather than a claim of a current EKG WooCommerce installation.
A product export is not an order-system backup.
The built-in product CSV tool supports moving product data. WooCommerce product CSV export. Order history, subscriptions, customer context, payment-provider records and extension settings require their own migration planning.
Before selecting extensions, list which ones create essential data or behavior. Replacing a visual product layout is a different job from replacing a subscription engine that manages ongoing customer obligations.
Test past the successful payment.
- A customer can find and understand the product.
- The right shipping and payment options appear.
- A permitted test transaction completes.
- The order reaches the person or system that fulfills it.
- Refund, cancellation and failed-payment handling are understood.
- Customer communication matches the real order state.
Use the provider’s test environment for the transaction exercise. Include operational staff in the review; checkout is only one part of their work.
The real cost has several owners.
Plan for hosting, extensions, development, payment processing and operational support. A zero-price core download does not predict the annual cost of your particular store.
Security and privacy include account access, order data and every integration that receives customer details. Payment handling should follow the chosen provider’s supported process.
When we would consider it.
WooCommerce can be a candidate when commerce belongs inside a WordPress site and the required extensions have a clear maintenance owner. A hosted commerce service can be sensible when the business needs managed operations. An inquiry workflow may be enough when the product cannot be meaningfully purchased online.
Choose from the actual sales and fulfillment process. Do not add a cart simply because the website lists products.
