Marketing built by the person who actually does the work.
EKG Marketing is a deliberately small, human-first practice. Strategy before tactics, substance before theater — and the same person who understands your business is the one building its marketing. That’s not a limitation. It’s the whole point.
Human-first marketing, built on strategy — not hype.
It began with a particular kind of tired.
There’s a tiredness that comes from watching good businesses get sold marketing instead of results — another funnel, another dashboard, another “AI-powered” package that generates activity and calls it progress. The industry has drifted toward theater, and the people paying for it — real owners, with real margins on the line — are left wondering why the reports look so busy while the phone stays quiet.
EKG Marketing started as a refusal to work that way. Not a bigger agency — a smaller, more honest one, where fewer clients get deeper work, and the first move is always to understand your business before selling you a thing.
We’d rather tell you the truth about what you actually need than sell you more of what we happen to offer.
To do national-caliber work for businesses that are tired of being a number.
For local companies and national clients alike — grounded in strategy, honesty, and respect for the person on the other end. We believe good marketing starts the way good relationships do: by listening first, and earning trust before asking for it.
Six commitments we don’t flex on.
Strategy before tools.
AI and automation amplify a system; they can’t create one. We build the thinking first, then reach for the tools — human-in-the-loop, always.
Substance over theater.
No funnel gimmicks, no vanity dashboards, no AI for the sake of looking modern. Every claim we make for you, we can stand behind.
Fewer clients, deeper work.
We’re selective on purpose. Yours gets real attention — not a slot in a content assembly line.
You work with the work.
The person who understands your account is the one doing it. No handoff to whoever’s free, no account-manager telephone game.
Straight answers — including the unprofitable ones.
When a channel isn’t worth it, when a tool is overkill, when the honest answer is “don’t” — we say so.
Real metrics only.
If a number can’t drive a decision, we won’t chase it or celebrate it. Marketing should earn trust, not just manufacture activity.
Owners who know their business cold.
EKG Marketing is for owners and operators who know their business cold and are tired of re-explaining it to a new account manager every quarter. For the skeptical expert who’s been burned by an agency that promised the moon and delivered a slide deck. For B2B and industrial companies whose customers do real diligence before they ever pick up the phone — where marketing’s job isn’t to manufacture leads, but to earn the trust of someone smart enough to see through hype. If you’d rather have a real relationship than a pipeline, you’ll fit here.
In a business full of noise, we’re betting on trust.
The industry keeps getting louder, faster, and more automated. We’re going the other way — slower, more selective, more human — because in high-trust sales the first contact was never meant to be a funnel. It was meant to be a person. Local roots, national standard: no business is too small to deserve real strategy, and none is too big for a real relationship.
Human-first marketing, built on strategy — not hype.
Why I run it this way.
I’m Eric Gajewski, and EKG Marketing is me — which is the point, not the fine print.
I’ve spent more than two decades in digital marketing, and most of that time I watched the same machinery up close: platforms that reward whoever shouts loudest, and an industry that learned to profit from noise. I got good at it. I also got tired of it.
Somewhere in there I reached the end of myself — further than I’ll get into here — and what pulled me back wasn’t a pitch or a program. It was a handful of real people who showed up with no agenda and stayed. When you’ve been met as a person instead of a prospect, you lose the ability to treat other people as prospects. It changed how I understand just about everything, this work included.
So I built the kind of practice I’d want to hire: small, honest, and run by the person actually doing the work. I settled in the High Country of North Carolina because I think good work starts somewhere real, with people you can sit across a table from. I’d rather earn one skeptical expert’s trust than generate a hundred cheap leads.
I’m not interested in marketing that wins the click and loses the person. I’m interested in the slower thing — trust — because it’s the only thing that compounds.
That’s the whole idea behind EKG: less theater, more substance. Fewer clients, deeper work. Marketing with a pulse.

Proud to be from the High Country.
We want our neighbors in Boone, Watauga County, and the App State community to be proud of the work that comes out of here — and we hold that same bar whether a client is down the street or across the country.
